Facing New Challenges

     I am very pleased to see the forward thinking of the Brothers Andrew in the Diocese of New Jersey in building and implementing the use of a web site, dedicated to the mission and ministry of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew.  With today’s technological opportunities, this is an excellent tool for our membership to take advantage of, especially for those who have the need for direct access to information relevant to our ministry in New Jersey.

     The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is in its 124^th year of ministry to men and boys in the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion, and what better way to reach out to more parishes and chapters who wish to communicate what they as Brothers Andrew are doing, locally and throughout the Diocese.  Providing a link to the National web site also ensures greater ease of access for the Chapters to obtain training materials for their use at meetings. 

     As Chapters submit a description of their ministry, ideas can be shared amongst the membership that will help them grow spiritually through prayer and study, but also in service, as we bring people nearer to Christ and into a relationship with our Lord and Savior. 

     May God continue to richly bless the men and boys in the Diocese of New Jersey as they boldly reach out proclaiming the Gospel message, in person, in printed form and through the use of today’s instant access technology to reach more men in a cost effective and time saving method to find the answers they are looking for.

          On November 30, 2003, the feast of St. Andrew, I was installed as a member of the Good Shepherd Chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. I am not only a member, but a strong supporter for the development and expansion of the Brotherhood in the Diocese of New Jersey.


     Dcn. Jim Gowland, the Brotherhood’s Diocesan Coordinator, is very dedicated to the mission and ministry of the Brotherhood.  I am happy that he has taken this leadership role and I encourage you to contact him with any questions you may have or to find out how to begin a chapter of the Brotherhood in your church.


     The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a blessing to our congregations and the communities they serve.
