Brotherhood of Saint Andrew - Diocese of NJ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why join the Brotherhood?

A: This is a men’s ministry, which began over 120 years ago to spread Christ’s Kingdom among men and boys, and to deepen our personal relationship with Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Q: Why form a Chapter?
A:  To provide and opportunity for men to meet on a regular basis, for fellowship, prayer, worship, to study the Holy Scriptures, and share their faith experience.

Q: Why pay dues?

A: Our dues cover the administrative costs to maintain central office function. Without these funds we would not be able to operate on a national or international level.

Q: What will the Brotherhood do for me?

A: The Brotherhood promotes a ministry for men in the Episcopal Church; we have chapters in many dioceses throughout the country. There are opportunities to become part of a national organization that meets each year

Q: What can I do for the Brotherhood?

A: Our ministry encourages men to meet regularly together, to form chapters, to welcome and invite other men visiting to your parish, or who occasionally attend church services to become part of the Brotherhood

Q: Does the Brotherhood promote evangelism?

A: Yes, by reaching out to other men, their families, the youth of the parish, encouraging them to come to the church, and it all begins through prayer and extending an invitation.

Q: We already have a men's club, isn't that enough?

A: It is a good beginning. The social part is what some men are looking for and they may do good work for their parishes. To deepen their faith requires something more, such as the Brotherhood.

Q: What about youth?

A: The Brotherhood encourages the boys to form a Youth Chapter under the sponsorship and direction of the existing Senior Brotherhood Chapter. This allows the men to server as role models and mentors to the young as they grow in their spiritual life.
